About
Born in India, I lived there most of my life but moved to England with my wife in January ’08. Growing up around musicians it was only natural that I pick up an instrument sooner or later. As with most kids I started playing in the school band and it was a whole lotta fun while it lasted. After school, I played with my share of pop, rock and metal bands (mostly 80′s artists and music). And as I was never too serious it’s fair to say I was an average musician for most of my playing years. My musical journey was a blast though, as I got to play with some talented musicians and forged many friendships along the way.
It was not until I stopped playing in a band that I started to get serious about music theory. Between ’02 and ’06 I probably learned and advanced more than I had the previous decade, and that was without picking up a guitar. Late ’07 I found the inspiration to start playing again (after Satriani’s “Super Colossal”), resurrected my guitar site after 6 years and here I am! How far I’ll go this time, I don’t know, but I am very keen on starting/joining an 80′s rock and metal tribute band. I also love the idea of sharing music I’ve written over the years, so you can look forward to hearing some of that material in 2010.
For those interested, my main influences over the years were:
Alex Skolnick – Testament
Joe Satriani
Kee Marcello – Europe
John Petrucci – Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment
Jeff Hanneman & Kerry King – Slayer
KK Downing & Glenn Tipton – Judas Priest
Paul Gilbert – Racer X, Mr.Big
Randy Rhoads – Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne
Richie Sambora – Bon Jovi
…add some Jazz, Blues, Van Halen, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Morbid Angel, Hammerfall, Metallica, COB, Arch Enemy, even ABBA (ha!) and a ton of hair metal bands ;)
That’s it for the about me page I guess!
